OneData MDR (Metadata Registry) is commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software that enables organizations to quickly build, manage, and deploy metadata registries, right out of the box.
It comes with two pre-built models
1. OneData-Registry with ISO 11179 Model
2. OneData-Registry with ‘Lite’ Model
OneData MDR provides:
- A configurable data model that you can easily extend as needed
- Configurable registration processes that allow elements and objects to be properly 'registered' (i.e. accepted) in the data registry
- A layered organization/responsibility structure for approvals and standardization
- Strong stewardship and security controls
- Different options to present the information to users in order to facilitate the main objective of the data registry: information sharing
- Extranet access, to facilitate data exchange and wider access
- Various means of data interchange including Web Services, JMS messaging, and FTP
- Granular cell-level security
- Glossary of standard terms, integrated discussion forum, extensive auditing and logging functionality
- Ability to manage content, taxonomies and information resources in one central repository
The benefits of OneData MDR as a data registry are numerous:
- Provides the mechanisms for enabling global data acquisition and interchange, particularly across application areas. Data definitions and descriptions are precise to support reuse or multiple users of data.
- Documentation of data characteristics to support fully automated sharing of data, including locating, retrieving, and exchanging data.
- Provides uniform guidance for identification, development, and description of elements and domains.
- Provides universal means for organizing standard shareable elements thereby facilitating search, retrieval and optimal usage.
- Sets up common data standards between organizations. Exchange of data among organizations is facilitated with the common data standards.
The ISO 11179 model is one of the most widely used standard for metadata registries. It provides the structured approach towards resolving a number of challenges faced during building a metadata registry.
The OneData-Registry with the ISO 11179 model provides all the benefits of the base data registry with the ISO 11179 data model and processes pre-built into the COTS package.
Apart from the standard features offered by OneData Registry, it includes:
- A 11179-compliant data model that you can easily extend as needed
- Pre defined ‘registration’ processes as per the standard, which can be configured/altered to suit specific needs by organizations.
- Glossary of standard terms associated with ISO 11179

For customers who want to kick start their Data Registry implementation with a simple existing model, OneData-Registry is offered with a ‘Lite’ model. This model is based on our years of experience building data registries and our understanding of the various standards in the industry.
Apart from the standard features offered by OneData Registry, it includes:
- A simplified data registry model which makes it easier to maintain/extend the model
- Configurable processes to manage the metadata
