OneData MDR with ISO 11179 Model

The OneData MDR implementation of ISO 11179 follows the standard model shown below. It includes specific entities/views for each of the following entities while maintaining the overall concept that each entry is an administered item.

  • Conceptual Domain
  • Value Domain
  • Data Element
  • Data Element Concept

Complex model implementations of Conceptual Domain, Value Domain, Value Meaning and Permissible values are implemented with ease in OneData Registry. The focus on the presentation layer hides the complexity from the end user and make it’s easy to maintain the data in the metadata registry.

The tool is model aware and takes into consideration any changes made to the model.

Classification

Standard classification schemes from the ISO 11179 standard are implemented. The configurations are data driven to give each organization the flexibility to develop their own schemes, authority, stewardship etc.

Rules

All the rules specified in the ISO standard are included in the template. The rules not only cover the data but also the statuses, the transition between statuses etc. Some examples of rules implemented are:

The rules are also configurable. It offers the flexibility to easily change the rule as the standard changes without any changes in code or programming. These changes can be implemented by the end customer or provided as a release of the OneData Registry ISO 11179 Template.

Processes

The ISO 11179 standard puts a lot of emphasis on the process of managing the administered items. These processes ensure that the metadata stored in the model is correct and accurate.

The processes cover both the approval process and transition between states of the data.

Glossary

A glossary of terms used in the ISO 11179 standards is included in the application. This makes it easier for the user to understand the terms and to search for specific rules/terms.
